Our Lodge
Summerveld Country Lodge
is graded by the SA Tourist Grading Association
as a 2-Star establishment that offers guests
comfortable and affordable bed & breakfast
accommodation. All nine rooms have separate
entrances and are beautifully furnished, have
on-suite bath or shower, and are fitted with
television, fan, heater and tea/coffee making
facilities. Our rates are reasonable and offer
value for money. We also offer self-catering
accommodation in a fully furnished 3 bedroom
cottage.
Summerveld Country Lodge
is situated in a tranquil country setting in the
heart of the equestrian community of Summerveld,
Kwa-Zulu-Natal. Access from the N3 and M13
highways is easy, with Durban and
Pietermaritzburg only 25 minutes away.
Summerveld Country Lodge is within 6km of the
bustling Upper Highway town of Hillcrest with
its wide array of modern banking, shopping and
dining facilities.
Summerveld comprises almost entirely of horse
farms that encompass the full range of
equestrian leisure and sports activities. Only
minutes away lie the impressive Summerveld
Racing Stables & Training Track, the
Durban Shongweni Equestrian Sports Club,
South Africa’s premier Horse Racing &
Equestrian Academy and the
Shongweni Dam & Game Reserve. We are on
the spectacular 1000 Hills tourism
route, and the popular wedding and function
venues of Stonehaven Castle and
Under The Marula are conveniently
close by.
We are located on a spacious, rambling 5 acre
property with beautifully landscaped gardens.
Summerveld is reputed to have the highest horse
population density in South Africa and is the
home of race-horse training in KwaZulu-Natal.
The soft clippety-clop of horses on outrides can
be heard throughout the day.

Our
Country Pub & Restaurant
Summerveld Country Lodge has its own licensed
restaurant and pub that is open to the public 7
days a week. The restaurant offers breakfast,
lunch and supper with scrumptious home-style
cooking from the Ala Carte menu. Meals are
served either in the formal dining room or on
the all-weather sundeck, overlooking a formal
garden. The popular teak furnished pub is
equipped with a large screen TV and DSTV.
